#1 Hands-Off
One of the most important things to remember is not to touch your face. Even if you’re just scratching an itch, bacteria and any dirt from your hands get transferred to your face. The bacteria and dirt then get into your pores. This leads to clogging and the formation of whiteheads and blackheads.
Please stop! As tempting as it may be, never pick out blackheads or pop whiteheads! Spreading the bacteria that were in your pimples onto your skin can lead to more outbreaks across the rest of your face. Picking at pimples can also lead to scarring, discoloration, or skin that is red, irritated, and painful.
#2 Be Careful Of Pore Strips
There’s something so gratifying about pulling off a pore strip and seeing it speckled with little black dots, but the effects are temporary. Pore strips will remove existing blackheads from the pores, but there is no permanent change or improvements to the skin. Pore strips can also be abrasive, causing skin irritation and turning red.
Instead, you should be cleansing daily and moisturise regularly to keep blackheads and excess sebum at bay as nose strips aren't an end-all solution, but rather a temporary quick fix.
#3 Be Gentle And Patient
Last but not least, the most important thing is to remember to be gentle with your skin! Of course blackheads and whiteheads are frustrating and undesirable and we want to get rid of them immediately, but using strong, irritating products can make matters worse. Try sticking to gentle products on your skin and avoid over stimulating your face with a load of products and rough exfoliation. Be patient and you will see results!
